Dinotrux is an American-Canadian computer-animated web series. It features a fictional prehistoric world inhabited by hybrid characters that are part dinosaur and part mechanical construction vehicle. The larger Dinotrux are accompanied by Rotilian Reptools who are smaller reptiles combined with mechanic's tools.... A prehistoric world, set in the Mechazoic era,[1] is populated by hybrid dinosaur-construction vehicles called Dinotrux, and by hybrid reptile-tools called Reptools.[3] Two best friends, Ty, a good T-Trux, and Revvit, a Reptool, must team up with other inhabitants of the world to defend their community and their work from the evil T-Trux, named D-Structs.[3] Dinotrux and Reptools share a symbiotic relationship with one another. For example, larger Ty provides smaller Revvit with safety, shelter and security, who in turn fixes and maintains Ty when needed.
Bob the Builder is a 1998-2011 children's animated television show created in Britain by Keith Chapman. In the original series, Bob appears in a stop motion animated programme as a building contractor, specialising in masonry, along with his colleague Wendy, various neighbours and friends, and their gang of anthropomorphised work-vehicles and equipment. .... The show later used CGI animation starting with the spin-off series Ready, Steady, Build!. ...
In each episode, Bob and his group help with renovations, construction, and repairs and with other projects as needed. The show emphasises conflict resolution, co-operation, socialisation and various learning skills. Bob's catchphrase is "Can we fix it?", to which the other characters respond with "Yes we can!" This phrase is also the title of the show's theme song, which was a million-selling number one hit in the UK. ... British proprietors of Bob the Builder and Thomas the Tank Engine sold the enterprise in 2011 to US toy-maker Mattel for $680 million.
Beide series hebben de onuitgesproken, maar overduidelijke opvatting dat je de wereld moet verbouwen. Het duidelijkst is dat natuurlijk bij Bob de Bouwer die elk stukje natuur veranderd in beton en metselwerk. Overal worden daar wegen en gebouwen gebouwd. Elk stukje natuur verdwijnt ten faveure van allerlei bouwprojecten. Je ziet op reclame van Bod de Bouwer vrijwel geen natuur en als je het al ziet dan is het als gecultiveerd gazon of struikgewas. Bij DinoTrux is de ruige woeste omgeving deel van het verhaal. De prehistorie met dino-robots. Ik vind het intrigerend hoe de dino's zijn vertaald naar robots/werktuigen.

Het is vooral mechanisch met hydrauliek, en geen cybernetisch systemen. Het is dus voor Star-War-fans meer zoals R2D2 dan zoals BB8. Het is fascinerend hoe in een wereld zonder petrochemische industrie en hoogovens deze dingen leven. In de verhalen vechten ze met andere robots of ze bouwen dingen. Het bouwen doet soms ook wel een beetje aan A-team denken, als ze weer eens in het nauw gedreven zijn en met de spullen voor handen iets zelf maken. Waarbij ze met een schroevendraaier moeren vastdraaien. Er wordt niet gelast dat dan weer niet. Ze bouwen garages, springschansen, diamantmijnen enzovoort.

Verschil is wel dat Buurman & Buurman vooral dingen verbouwen in en om hun eigen huis. Het is vooral klussen en niet het bouwen van nieuwe bouwprojecten zoals bij Bob de Bouwer en Dinotrux.
Bouwprojecten zijn ook fascinerend voor kinderen. Het spreekt ook meer aan dan natuurbehoud...
Grote machines en dingen maken is natuurlijk ook inspirerender dan dingen waar je geen grip op hebt behouden.
